Welcome to OASFAA 2022-2023!

Carrie Short

What an exciting time to be in financial aid! With the upcoming FAFSA simplification changes and the remants of the pandemic, there's never

been a more important time for FAAs to connect, network, and seek out training opportunities in the financial aid community. OASFAA is excited to provide those opportunities to its members, our counselor community, and our Ohio students and parents. From the return of NASFAA Credential Workshops to our Annual Conference in the spring (and a LOT in between), there are a number of events OASFAA is offering this year.

I'm especially thrilled to return to in-person meetings and events. Not just to reconnect with each other after the pandemic, but also to welcome the newer FAAs into the fold. Anyone new to the profession in the past few years hasn't had the amazing opportunities we've had to network and connect with each other in person. OASFAA hopes to remedy that in the 2022-2023 year.

It's also a great time to volunteer! There are a number of opportunities that have a varying degree of time commitment and responsibility. Complete our Volunteer Interest Form or reach out to me directly to find out how you can give back to this wonderful financial aid community. Chances are we have the perfect volunteer spot for you!

I love serving OASFAA with all of my heart. I'm sure many of you have heard me tell the story of my first day in financial aid - it was the 2006 Spring Conference at the Sawmill Resort. Yes - the conference was my first day - and I was hooked. Hooked on financial aid, hooked on OASFAA. I can't believe it's been 16 years! I'm so proud to serve as the association's president for 2022-2023.

As we progress through this exciting year, I welcome your comments, feedback, and ideas on how OASFAA can best serve you, our valuable member. I would love to hear from you

I hope you have a fantastic year, and I hope to see your smiling faces at many of our events this year!
